  I was at the Lakeside Medical Center for a prepaid drug scan that my potential employer scheduled for me. On Arrival to the center I was asked to fill out some basic paperwork, Name address, and DOB, DL, and Social Security number. Everything needed for a credit check or for someone to commit fraud. I did provide the last 4 digits of my SS# but I refused to provide my entire SS#. I was told since I will not provide my SS# they will not provide me with the drug screening. The Social Security number was never designed to be a personal identifier. In fact, when the SS was passed in 1935 the Social Security Account number, it was original name, was meant to identify the account , not the person. That’s not the case today. There are few prohibitions against the use of the SS number in the private sector and it is widely used by the federal government.
